Despite large amounts of speculation about the release date of the iPhone 5, it appears that the highly anticipated device will not be available for general purchase until September of this year.
More and more reports are circulating over the internet that the initial claim of the iPhone 5 mobile phone being available in either June or July are false. The rumours were not based purely in fiction; Apple have become well known for their cycle of fresh release dates on their extremely popular smartphone, however, a report from AT&T Customer Care has confirmed that that there will be no iPhone 5 hitting the shelves in June or July of this year. A representative for AT&T issued the following statement regarding the apparently late launch of this latest incarnation of the iPhone:
“Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us” stated the spokesman.
This statement seems to collaborate with many reports that are beginning to flow on the internet concerning the release date of the iPhone 5. Due to the date of the latest device being pushed back to September, many iPhone critics have begun to speculate that the reason Apple have had to delay their product launch is down to have 'too much on their plate'; the company has just seen the release of the second version of its tablet personal computer: the iPad 2.
